Micro-needling is based on the skin’s natural ability to repair itself when it suffers physical damage such as cuts, burns, abrasions or other injuries. Immediately after an injury to the skin, our body begins the healing process, triggering new collagen synthesis. The micro-needling device that intentionally creates very superficial “micro-injuries” to the outermost layer of the skin, inducing the healing process including new collagen production. At Ecologica Medical Spa this procedure is performed in a safe and precise manner with a single-use sterile needle head. The treatment session usually takes 30-60 minutes, depending on the area being treated.
For optimal results we recommend a series of sessions to reach desired goal. Complementary evaluation is required for the purchase of a series.
What should I expect? - During the session, Micro-needling may be uncomfortable for sensitive skin types. We provide our patients with a topical numbing cream that will be applied 30 minutes prior to the procedure. After the treatment, most people will experience redness and mild swelling and should stay out of the sun.
When will I see results? – Results vary from individuals and healing time varies. Most people start to see results in one day to a week after treatment.
Pre + Post Care
Before Treatment
Avoid Accutane for 6 months prior to treatment.
Avoid retinoids, topical antibiotics, exfoliants, hydroquinone 3 days prior to procedure.
Avoid Laser procedures for the 7 days prior to procedure.
After Treatment
May use Tylenol as needed for soreness.
Avoid strenuous exercise or sweating for 24 hours.
May use ice packs to reduce swelling, discomfort, burning, or redness.
Avoid sun exposure for 3 days. Use SPF 30+ every 2 hours.
May wear makeup after 24 hours.
