How does Botox Cosmetic work? - Wrinkles result from a combination of many factors. It’s not just about cellular changes that can occur over time, reduction of collagen, or damage caused by free radicals in the sun and the environment. When you frown or concentrate, the muscles between your brows contract, causing your skin to furrow and fold. And when you squint, the muscles around your eyes contract and cause crow’s feet. Botox Cosmetic works beneath the skin’s surface and targets underlying muscle activity that causes frown lines and crow’s feet.
What should I expect after treatment? – Our patient’s have reported noticing results within 24 to 48 hours for moderate to severe frown lines, with results lasting up to 4 months.
Pre + Post Care
Before Treatment
For optimal results, 3 days before treatment: Avoid topical products such as Retin-A, Retinols, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, and Alpha Hydroxy Acid. Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or the use of hair removal cream on the area to be treated. 7 days before treatment avoid blood thinning medications such as Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, and Aleve to prevent bruising.
Do not drink alcoholic beverages 24 hours before or after your treatment to avoid excessive bruising.
Do not use Botox Cosmetic if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
After Treatment
Stay in a vertical position for four hours following injection. Avoid resting your head or lying down.
Be gentle when cleansing your face or applying make up for the first few days.
You may take Tylenol if you experience mild tenderness or discomfort.
Avoid sun exposure until redness/swelling has subsided.
